PURPOSE:
To meet the educational, social and leisure time needs of the Ravensthorpe community.
To liaise and co-operate with the voluntary and statutory sectors on a local and
national level in a common effort to advance the needs of the community and improve
the conditions and quality of life. To promote good citizenship and
mutual tolerance between the different communities living within Ravensthorpe.
BACKGROUND:
Ravensthorpe Community Centre has been established for over two years.
The Centre secured funding from Dewsbury Partnership Single Regeneration Budget
(DPSRB) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to purchase and refurbish
the former St Johns Ambulance HQ in order to provide for the long term
educational, social and leisure time needs of the Ravensthorpe Community.
The Centre is now a focal point for a range of activities, facilities and workspace.
Ravensthorpe Community Centre is on two floors and currently has a large hall,
several offices, IT suite, training rooms, crèche, canteen, access ramps
to all entrances/exits and ample on site parking.
ACTIVITIES: Current
activities at Ravensthorpe Community Centre are: IT, ESOL, Food Hygiene
and Aerobics classes Youth and Karate Clubs Study Support

Crafty Girls There are active user groups based at the Centre, which include
The Ravensthorpe Women Improvement Society and the Over 50s Group. |
